Botanical Sketchbooking Taster Session

£25.00

Wednesday 28th October

11am - 1pm

Botanical Sketchbooking — Taster Session

Slow down. Look closely. Draw what you see.

A botanical sketchbook is a place to explore, experiment and practise, without the pressure of creating a perfect finished artwork.

In this taster session, you’ll be introduced to the gentle and rewarding practice of botanical sketching. Using plants as our starting point, we’ll spend time looking closely at flowers, leaves, stems and other plant forms, discovering their shapes, structures and proportions through drawing.

You’ll have the opportunity to try simple sketches and colour studies, explore different materials and discover ways of recording what you see. There’s no need to be an experienced artist. The emphasis is on observation, curiosity and having a go.

Rather than aiming for perfect pages, we’ll use the sketchbook as a space to experiment, make discoveries and develop the connection between your eye and your hand.

This taster session offers a glimpse into how regular botanical sketching can build confidence, strengthen observation skills and help you develop your own way of seeing and drawing plants.

Look closely. Draw what you see. Find your own way of seeing.

Materials - Please feel free to bring your own sketchbook and drawing materials. If you don’t have your own, we will have drawing materials available for you to use. Sketchbooks can be purchased on the day at an extra cost.
