TRADITIONAL UPHOLSTERY
WITH RUTH DEVLIN
6 WEEK COURSE
Tuesday mornings: 9.45am – 12.15pm
16th September – 4th November (14th & 21st October off for half term school holidays).
£288 (includes a stool frame, use of all tools required and all materials except top
fabric).
If you would like to bring your own small piece of furniture, the cost is adjusted to £248 (any upholstery materials used are payable at the end of the course).
Come and immerse yourself in the wonderful world of traditional upholstery… hammers, tacks, calico…only traditional skills taught, no staple guns!
The courses are open to all levels of skills and are suitable for complete beginners or for anyone who would like a refresher course.
We encourage everyone to start with the stool project – during the course you will learn the sequence of layers required to create a traditional upholstered seat - everything from webbing, forming a hair pad, creating a stitched edge roll, to finally applying your top fabric and going home with an upholstered stool.
We would then be delighted if you’d like to return and join further classes, bringing your own small piece of furniture to upholster.
If you have previous experience as an upholsterer and would prefer to bring your own furniture, instead of the specified project, you will be able to do so as long as it is an appropriate piece of furniture. Any upholstery materials used will be charged for at the end of the course.
Class sizes are limited to 6 max.
