INTRODUCTION TO BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATION WORKSHOP

Saturday 20th July 2024 10:00 - 16:00 (one hour break for lunch)

Spend your studio day immersed in all things green, bright and beautiful! You'll be surrounded by lush houseplants, flowering garden plants, cut flowers and inspiring reference photographs of Scottish wild flowers found in the Lothians throughout the seasons. 

You'll speed-sketch, capture detail, look at form, proportions, contrast, colour and tone of plant life. There will be a series of focused, mini practicals throughout the day which will build confidence in creating gorgeous botanical illustrations. 

This course is tutored by Suzanne Gibson who's passion for the subject is likely to rub off on you whether you are a complete beginner or a competent artists. All levels of ability are welcome to this workshop. Art materials (we'll use a variety of medium) tea/coffee will be provided. There will be a one hour break for lunch when you are welcome to join a group booking for the Dukes bistro or bring a packed lunch to be enjoyed in the studio. Tutor Suzanne will be running a six week Botanical Illustration course here from early September which is an ideal follow on if you want to further your development in botanical art.
