BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATION 6 WEEK COURSE

WITH SUZANNE GIBSON

Wednesday Evenings

4th September to 9th October 2024, 18:30 - 21:00

SOLD OUT

If you love flowers, plants and nature and have always wanted to learn how to draw and paint botanicals then you've come to the right place. Experienced tutor, Suzanne Gibson is passionate about most things green including her houseplant collection and blossoming garden but it's her interest in illustrating native Scottish wild flowers that will be most prevalent throughout this course. Learning to observe nature and look closely to find wild flowers you never knew existed before may even become YOUR new obsession! Let every Wednesday evening of term take you to a place where you escape to a world of capturing form, proportion and detail as well as learning about colour, contrast and differing tones to create gorgeous botanical art.

While botanical illustration's roots (pardon the pun) lie in scientific record keeping we will not be creating intense, laborious pieces. We'll be creating less formal interpretations of the plants and flowers we'll study but do expect fine detail to feature. Suzanne looks forward to welcoming complete beginners or competent artists alike as her approach to each weekly session supports all levels of ability. Fine liners and watercolour are her tools of choice so most students gravitate towards these but there is plenty opportunity to experiment with many medium. Materials, tea/coffee provided.

This course is sold out but if you would like to enquire about the waiting list, please complete the form below.
