A fresh, new Botanical Illustration, six week night class: full of the fabulous colours & forms of autumn. Think close observation of rustic leaves of orange & yellow, bulbous berries painted against chilly blue skies and giant Butterbur leaves with interesting holes made by summer’s hungry creatures. We’ll also delve into the gorgeous forms & pretty colours of complex Dahlias.
After a successful & hugely enjoyable first term here at Dukes, Suzanne is delighted to offer her second term. If you are interested in plants & wildflowers you’ll likely love this immersive and varied course. Everyone, whatever artistic ability, is welcome. Art & source materials, inspiration, lovely snacks & friendly tuition in a relaxed environment are all supplied. We use a variety of materials and techniques including pencil, watercolour, fineliner & gouache with many more materials to hand.
Winter Foliage Botanical Illustration Workshop

Spend a day drawing and painting an abundance of mixed winter foliage inspired by the stylised botanical watercolours Charles Rennie Mackintosh painted in France in 1925. Using wintery botanical reference photos and seasonal foliage in the studio you can either create a painting or make some extra special Christmas cards at this relaxed event, tutored by Suzanne Gibson. A great way to spend a winter's day!
There is an option for you to have a tasty lunch in the Dukes bistro so please advise if you'd like that at time of booking, This will be in addition to the cost of the workshop, otherwise please bring a packed lunch. A variety of high quality art materials, drinks and snacks are all provided. All artistic abilities are most welcome along to this immersive, creative day.
